About the Lizards

You might now be interested in learning some facts about these species. The facts are courtesy of Factzoo: Types of Lizards.

Jesus Lizard

The Jesus Lizard and the Basilisk are the same creature. The reason that they have been dubbed "Jesus Lizards" is because they run so quickly that they actually appear to run on water.

Tuatara

This species is absolutely worth studying because it has been around (in the same form) for more than 140 million years. In fact, the family to which it belongs appeared on this planet over 220 million years ago.

Gecko

Many of us are familiar with this little creature due to the popularity of Geico commercials. Not only are Geckos amazing crawlers, but they also produce sounds that are reminiscent of the voice of a human or the bark of a dog.

Chuckwallas

Here we have a critter that is extremely proficient at protecting itself. When a predator comes after them, they crawl into small spaces. However, they also puff out their bodies. By doing so, they prevent any passage into the space in which they are in.
