Their Relative Size

Of course, if you love big dogs, Pomeranians are not going to be a good pet for you. However, many people prefer a small dog for a number of different reasons. Whether it is because they can make less of a mess or because some individuals are frightened by large canines, a Pomeranian is an appropriate choice for someone who is looking for a breed that is on the smaller end of the scale.

Watch Dog Tendencies

Despite the fact that the Pomeranian is small, these types of dogs still have some sorts of watch dog-like tendencies. For example, if a stranger approaches the house, they are going to bark. Furthermore, they have a very strong sense of what is going on around them. Therefore, if they hear a sound or see something out of the ordinary, they are going to start barking and let you know about it.

Please note that we said "watch dog" and not a "guard dog." Guard dogs are often considered to be more along the lines of canines who will go after people who are doing wrong on their property. While some guard dogs are more prone to attack, watch dogs are more prone to alert. Getting Along with other Animals

A major concern of people who are buying pets is whether or not their animal will get along with other animals. In fact, male Pomeranians are known for getting along with one another and for loving to play with each other. Many species of male dogs will fight each other.

However, there are not 100% steadfast rules here. If you train your dog from early on to get along with your other pets, you should be fine. Obedience

If your Pomeranian thinks that he or she has control of the relationship between the two of you, then you are going to have trouble with obedience issues. However, if you start from day on showing them that they must listen to you, then Pomeranians are great listeners. They are very good at listening, and when you speak, they will look right at you. Still though, if they know that they can control you, they absolutely will.
