Is Marion Barber Related to Tiki Barber?

Marion Barber is not related to Tiki Barber, but is the son of a former New York Jets running back Marion Barber, Jr. and is the older brother of Dominique Barber, who plays safety for the Houston Texans.

• Marion Sylvester Barber III was born in Plymouth, Minnesota on June 10, 1983. 
• He attended Wayzata High School there where he excelled in football, and performed very well in baseball and track. 
• In football, he was a running back and defensive back. 
• As a senior, he rushed for 1778 yards, made 18 touchdowns, and got 10 interceptions. 
• He received Honorable Mention All-Conference as a center fielder in baseball. 
• In track, he was a qualifier for the Minnesota State Class AA Championships in the 100 metres.  His best time was 10.9 seconds.
• He played college football for the University of Minnesota Golden Gophers.  He was second in all time rushing touchdowns with 35. 
• He and Lawrence Maroney received a lot of attention as one of the best duo backs in the country. 
• Before his senior year at college, he was a fourth round draft pick for the Dallas Cowboys in 2005. 
• He played well, rushing for 95 yards in one game and 125 in another, and was soon a backup running back for the Cowboys.         
• In 2006, Marion led the National Football Conference with 14 rushing touchdowns. 
• In 2007, Barber was called by the Philadelphia Eagles’ defensive coordinator Jim Johnson, the hardest running back in the NFL to bring down.
• It was during this year that Barber got his nickname, Marion the Barbarian. 
• He had a great year, leading the league in breaking tackles, rushing for 975 yards in 204 carries, and making 10 rushing touchdowns. 
• In spite of being the backup to Julius Jones, he was named to the Pro Bowl. 
• In 2008, Barber signed a seven year contract for 45 million dollars.

• Tiki Barber was born Atiim Kiambu Hakeem-Ah Barber on April 7, 1975.

• He broke their single game rushing record in 2005 with 220 yards and broke that record the next year.  He had a season total of 2,390 yards.
•  In 2006, his record 234 rushing yards was the most ever by a player that was over 30 years old.  He played his last game in 2007 at the Pro Bowl.
• After retiring, Barber became a television broadcaster for sports and other things, like lifestyle segments and news stories for Today.

• Tiki and his twin brother Ronde have also written and published seven children’s books.  They include By My Brother's Side (2004), Game Day (2005), Teammates (2006), Kickoff! (2007), Go Long! (2008), Wild Card (2009), and Red Zone (2010).  Ronde is a cornerback for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
