Which Organizations Are Based in New Mexico?

As in most states in the US, there are a variety of organizations based based in New Mexico. These organizations vary in type, size, goal, and structure; some are well-known outside of New Mexico, while others operate primarily on a regional basis.

If you're interested in New Mexico's corporate activity, or if you're moving to the area and are interested in some of the organizations based there for the sake of employment, the list below should get you started. New Mexico Educators Federal Credit Union (NMEFCU)

Headquartered in Albuquerque, New Mexico, NMEFCU is regulated by the National Credit Union Administration and is the largest credit union in the state. With approximately 120,000 members and 16 branches, NMEFCU primarily serves those who work for the educational system, and makes regular charitable donations throughout New Mexico communities.

Explora! Is a science museum and learning center in Albuquerque that is a well-known expedition destination for schools across the community. Two floors of space hold over 250 exhibits, covering such areas as science, technology, and art. Interactive displays, ongoing programs and activities for all ages, a performance theater, and more make it a great learning opportunity and a popular tourist draw.

Nicodemus Wilderness Project

The Wilderness Project is an Albuquerque-based non-profit organization that was founded in 2000. It is designed to provide experience and education for young people who want to be involved with efforts to help save the environment. Multiple programs offered by the Project offer kids the chance to learn leadership skills while getting involved in the protection of wildlife, environmental cleanliness, and other real-world problems. Making a difference while teaching new generations about what needs to be done for the planet are the goals of this well-known and volunteer-run organization.

Nuclear Watch of New Mexico

Based in Santa Fe, Nuclear Watch of New Mexico uses research, public education, and volunteer action to assist in promoting a safe environment. They provide information and protection regarding nuclear facilities within the region, as well as research in areas that are designed to help reduce reliance on nuclear power. The group's ultimate mission is to keep the public informed and to help try and steer US leadership toward a world free of nuclear weapons.
