In light of all of the talk about health care, one factor to consider is the internal and external factors that affect health care organizations. Being aware of the system is important. When people refer to health care, sometimes they mean health insurance and sometimes they mean health services provided by doctors, nurses, and so forth.

Payment and Financial Support for the People

One of the biggest issues surrounding health care today is the way in which it is paid for. Payment is both an internal and an external factor that affects health care organizations. On the outside, providers need to respond to how the rates are set. Some services, such as Medicare and Medicaid for example, have some role in setting these prices. Negotiation is possible; however, health care organizations need to come to some agreeable ground with other individuals outside their own company. The health organization needs to respond to the demands of the public.

Geography

Based on a health care facility's location, it may or may not receive a lot of traffic. Even if you live in a major city or a bustling suburb, remember that quite a vast area of the United States is rural.

When you get into these areas, you find that people have to travel a great distance in order to receive medical care. Therefore, the health care facility might not be able to remain in operation.

Another possibility is that the health care organization receives a bad reputation because people are not able to get there in time, and in turn, the facility experiences a higher number of problems with fatalities and side effects.

Health care organizations need to figure out how they are going to be able to support people. A company might not be able to meet the demands of people who are in need of certain types of programs. Some insurance companies might only be able to cater to wealthier individuals because of their own financial inadequacies.

There are people in the US who cannot afford health insurance. When that occurs, some decision has been made at the executive level to set a price above what a certain population of people can afford.

Quality of the Workers

While we like to put a lot of faith in the medical community, we also have to remember that we hear horror stories from time to time. The majority of doctors, nurses, etc. are genuinely good people who want to assist those suffering from a disease, illness, injury, and so forth. However, as in any field, there are some people who simply do not care or who don't have good medical skills.

An organization is only going to be as adequate as the health care workers who are running it and working for it.

While there are little nuisances involved in the day to day management of a health care facility, funding, the quality of the workers, and the location are three main factors which significantly influence how successful the establishment is and how it is able to serve the public.
