How to Friend on Facebook

Facebook has become the most popular and widely-used social networking site on the Internet, connecting people worldwide to one another all through the process of “friending.” The website provides many different ways for you to locate old friends, make new friends, and find people with similar interests through the use of a variety of different applications that the website has created.

When you sign into Facebook, your friends list contains all of the different people that you have either requested to be your online friend, or that you’ve accepted a friend request from.

Basically, the only way to “friend” someone on Facebook is to either send a request that’s accepted or to accept a request that’s been sent to you.

However, there are a few different means of locating new friends.

  • There is an application on the website called the “friend suggestion.” This friend finder application gives you friend suggestions based on the number of mutual friends you have with people.
  • There is also the “friend finder.” With this application, you can import your contacts from email accounts to find them on the website. Once you find them on the website, you can then friend request them.
  • There is a search field at the top of your news feed or "Home" page. You can enter a specific person’s name in this field and locate their profile, in which you will be given the option to request them as a friend.

Now you know how to find and add friends on Facebook and you can begin adding to your friends list.
