The USS Starship Enterprise was allegedly 725.35 meters long. In the American system of measurement, this means that the Enterprise was 2,379.75 feet long from end to end, almost the length of eight football fields.
We know now the length of the Starship Enterprise, but what was the USS Starship Enterprise?
- The United Federation of Planets, the governing body in the Star Trek series of television shows and films, has a number of different starships that are constantly traversing the galaxy in order to “boldly go where no man has gone before.”
- One of the largest, if not the largest, of these ships, is the USS Starship Enterprise, famously piloted by Captain James T. Kirk and his crew of humans and humanoid aliens.
- The Starship Enterprise, and Star Trek, have provided over forty years of entertainment in various forms.
Features of the Starship Enterprise
The size of the Starship Enterprise was not the only distinguishing feature of this amazing planetary vehicle. Besides the reactors that powered the ship, the Enterprise also had a number of other futuristic features, including:
- A teleportation room
- An area for docking smaller ships that might need to come inside the Enterprise for repairs
- A holodeck where crew members could relax and live their fantasies in a sort of three-dimensional alternate reality program.
All of these things require a lot of space, so the Starship Enterprise had to be one of the largest vessels in the Federation’s fleet.
