Disney fanatics will love to know that Pluto has been around since 1930. From that point on he was a popular movie character and became officially known as Mickey Mouse's dog.
In 1930, Pluto was first seen in the Disney movie short entitled The Chain Gang. Actually, there was another dog in this movie who looked just like Pluto. However, Pluto is the one who made his name known, and the other dog just vanished into oblivion. In the same year, Pluto also appeared in The Picnic. In that short, he was Minnie Mouse's dog.
Finally, in 1931, The Moose Hunt came out. In that movie, he was given the name Pluto and he officially became Mickey Mouse's dog. He continued to appear in these short films with Mickey Mouse by his side for another several years. In 1937, he really got his big break.
Starting in 1937, Pluto had his very own series. The first show of this series was entitled Pluto's Quin-puplets. For the next 31 years, Pluto reigned over television. However, in 1968, he made his final appearance for a very long time in The Coyote's Lament, a movie that was out in the theaters.
Pluto disappeared from the scene until 1988, when he made a quick appearance in Who Framed Roger Rabbit? Slowly, he began to come back into the spotlight, as he was in the 1990 movie The Prince and the Pauper and the 1995 movie Runaway Brain.
Now Pluto is back and just as powerful as ever now, as children of a whole new generation have grown to adore this lovable dog who has been at Mickey Mouse's side for many years.
