What Was "The Four Seasons?"

It was a product of the Baroque style of music and consisted of four violin concertos, hence the name. This piece was written nearly 300 years ago in 1723, and is one of the most popular and best selling pieces of Baroque music ever.

The reason that the term "season" is included is because of how Vivaldi composed the music. Each of the different violin sections were meant to represent a different season: winter, spring, summer, and fall. In fact, they were written to accompany four sonnets about the seasons, which some people believe that Vivaldi also wrote.
