Of course, everyone is going to have a different opinion on who the best is, but Green Day has a recognized talent and their longevity in the music industry and commercial success all suggest that they are, at a minimum, one of the best punk rock bands.

Green Day is a band based in Oakland, California that has a long history of success in the punk rock and alternative rock fields.  While they were in existence for a number of years prior to 1993’s major label debut album “Dookie,” which took the pop punk world by storm and led to massive recognition and record sales worldwide, Green Day has really matured in the ensuing seventeen years and has come to be known as one of the best punk rock bands in the world today. 

So, why is Green Day the best punk rock band in the world, and what factors have led not only to their meteoric rise to success, but to their ability to stay on top of the charts for seventeen years in an industry that regularly churns through talent?

Green Day has excellent musical skills, as well as a sensibility of what the listening public want to hear.  In addition to their chops, Green Day has been able to maintain a social conscience, and in keeping with the spirit of punk rock music, has spoken out against causes that they feel strongly about, such as the Bush Administration and the war in Iraq.  Green Day has also had a musical produced that features their music, and cross genre moves like that are what make a great band into a truly legendary musical entity.
