Where Did the Penobscot Indians Live?

Penobscot comes from the Indian word Panawahpskek, which means the place where the rocks open out. This Indian term was the name of a popular Penobscot village, but where was this village and where did the Penobscot Indians live?

The Penobscots, specifically, are native to what is now called Maine.
