Foreign direct investment involves one country (an investor) investing in another country on a long term basis. Generally, foreign direct investment involves the investor having some kind of ongoing relationship with the country it invested in. There are many advantages to foreign direct investment which should be considered.

Here are a few of the advantages of foreign direct investment:

Aid in Economic Development

  • One of the biggest advantages of foreign direct investment is that it helps the economic development of the country where the investment is made.
  • This type of investment in a country that is still developing is especially helpful in giving the country a leg up.
