What Is the Air Force Academy's Monthly Stipend?

What is the Air Force Academy's monthly stipend? A stipend is a set amount of money each month provided to those attending the US Air Force Academy. So, how much is the stipend for students at the Academy?

If you are admitted to the United State's Air Force Academy, you will receive many benefits. As of the year 2011, the benefits include a monthly stipend of approximately $929. This money is intended to cover the cost of uniforms, books, and supplies. Any amount left over after these necessities are purchased can be used for personal purchases or savings. In addition to the monthly stipend, cadets receive medical and dental care at no cost. Being admitted to the Air Force Academy is a high honor, since applicants go through a rigorous selection process. In addition to passing the requirements of the selection committee, in order to apply all candidates must be nominated, typically by a US Senator or Representative. Most applicants to the Air Force begin the process of applying during their junior year of high school if they wish to enroll in the Academy after graduation.

While the Academy's educational cost runs approximately $42,000 per year, it's a well-known fact that generally graduates land in well-established jobs with excellent base pay and benefits. Air Force graduates have a variety of high quality opportunities available to them after graduation. Career fields range from flight positions such as fighter pilots and navigators, to healthcare professions, to legal careers, engineering paths, and space operations.
