Why Pray to Hindu God Rama?

If you are interested in learning about the Hindu religion, you will need to learn why pray to Hindu God Rama. The Hindu God Rama, who is often referred to as The Perfect Man, Lord of Self-Control, or Lord of Virtue, is one of the most popular Hindu gods.  He is worshipped as a model of courage and piety.  This means you should pray to the Hindu God Rama if you are a believer in the Hindu religion and you want to honor this important God.

There are a number of important reasons why followers of the Hindu religion pray to the Hindu God Rama.

  • Rama is the son of Kausalya and Dasharatha, king of Ayodhya, and is married to Sita, who to Hindus is the essence of the ideal woman.
  • Rama is tested through various trials, including extended exile.  When his wife Sita is captured by rival Ravana, Rama is said to have overcome tremendous challenges in order to save her.  He wages brilliant war against Ravana, and with the help of extraordinary weapons, beings, and wisdom, Rama frees Sita.
  • Rama then becomes Emperor and reigns for 11,000 years, a period of time considered by Hindus to be marked by extraordinary happiness, justice, wealth, and calm.  This period is known as the Rama Rajya.
  • Rama’s bravery in the face of incredible odds and in the epic battle against Ravana is revered by all Hindus, especially those residing in Southeast Asia.

Because the Hindu God Rama is upheld as a model of a dutiful, pious, and virtuous leader, even the face of adversity, praying to him is a sign of faith and an important religious practice.
