Where Was Hindu Maya Worship?

If you are learning for the first time about the religions of other nations, places, and cultures, you might be fascinated to learn where was Hindu Maya worship practiced.  Hindu and Mayan religions may have some similarities, but in fact they are quite different from one another. They originated in different places and are worshiped in different places around the world now.

Since the Hindu and Mayan religions exist in different places, there are two different answers to where was Hindu Maya worship:

  • Hindu religions – and the many variants of this big religion – are centered in south eastern Asia in what is known as India today.
  • Mayan religions are practiced today in central America.

Hinduism Worship

To better understand where Hindu Maya worship was, it is a good idea to begin by understanding Hinduism.

  • Hinduism is centered around the practice of worshipping many gods and is very sacred to the people of India and other south Asian countries.
  • Now that our world is becoming increasingly globalized, we can see places of Hindu worship in most Western countries around the world.
  • It is a religion that very much celebrates life and love and is based around many similar values that are honored in other religions, but the fact is that it is very often unfairly portrayed by the media as a heathen religion.
  • This kind of attitude is certainly offensive to not only the followers of the religion, but the entire culture in general.

Hindu versus Maya Religions

Sometimes we confuse religions that we are not very well-informed about because we cannot imagine what it is like to worship multiple gods in one religion.  This, however, is no good excuse to think that Hindu and Mayan religions are the same thing or hold the same beliefs.

  • Within many regions of Mexico, and in other Central American countries, there are small Mayan communities that practice the Mayan religion
  • The Mayan religion and culture that has been studied by scholars, anthropologists, and religious leaders for centuries now.
  • The Mayan religion is not widely practiced in other countries, mainly due to the fact that the Mayan community is much smaller and has been highly persecuted over the centuries to a greater degree.
  • We can look around Central and South America to find more information about the Mayan religion and where the Mayan religion is practiced.

Studying Religions and Their Origins Is Important

By studying the origins of different religions, and understanding where Hindu and Maya religions were and are practiced, we can see that there are many religions that are in fact related or even originated from the same general ideas, themes, and morals.  The more we can find connections between humans, the more we can understand how to build peace in the world.
