What Is Predicted to Happen in 2012?

What is predicted to happen in 2012? Something is predicted to happen in 2012 but whether it is good or bad depends on who you talk to or what you read.  The one thing that is going to happen is there is going to be change, either for the good or bad.  Read on to find out about the good and the bad predictions that may happen in 2012.

December 21, 2012 is the end of a 5125 year period of the Mayan calendar.  Let’s first look at the bad things which are predicted to happen:

  • The worst case scenario is that the earth and all living things on it will be totally destroyed.
  • Another possibility is that a large number of people will die from some catastrophe.

Here is a brief glance at some of the other predictions of what may happen in 2012.

  • Pole Reversal: There is a lot pf speculation about a magnetic pole reversal.  This happens every 250,000 years on average, and we are long overdue.  If this happens, then earth would be exposed to deadly radiation from the sun and that would eliminate all life here.
  • Yellowstone Eruption:  Yellowstone National Park has the largest volcano in the world and it will someday erupt.  If it erupts with enough force, that would be the end of the world because we would be plunged into darkness for hundreds of years.
  • Sun Storms and Meteors: In recent years, sun flare activity has increased, resulting in satellites being disabled.  These events could be a factor in climate change.
  • Collision between the 433 Eros meteor and earth:  It is 10 kilometres wide and if it hit us, it would be an extinction event, even larger than the one that destroyed the dinosaurs.
  • Natural Disasters and Chaos: Some believe that in 2012, there will be massive numbers of natural disasters and many will be larger than ever before.  According to the vague Nostradamus prediction, “After there is great trouble among mankind, a greater one is prepared. The great mover of the universe will renew time, rain, blood, thirst, famine, steel weapons and disease. In the heavens, a fire seen.”  In addition to tsunamis, hurricanes, earthquakes, and tornadoes, there could be climate change and war that would affect the whole world.
  • Second Coming: Some Christians are predicting that 2012 will be the year for the second coming of Christ.  He will return to earth and take his followers to heaven and the rest will be left to deal with disasters and destruction.

A New Era in 2012

Now you get to hear the good news or better news at least.  Many people feel that there will be change, but it will be a good change.  Some things could happen quickly and others could take time.

New age and other theories suggest that 2012 will be a time of transition into enlightenment and higher consciousness.  They see 2012 as the beginning of a new world that is transformed spiritually.

This belief is fueled by the fact that the solar system is coming into alignment and that will usher in a new era. The Great Rift, which is a band of dark clouds of dust in the Milky Way Galaxy, will be intersected by the sun in 2012 at the winter solstice, December 21st.  The Mayans felt this was foretelling a time of transformation for mankind. This may, however, include some destructive events.

Three Final Predictions for 2012

There are three more predictions of what might happen in 2012.

  • People who believe in the Law of Attraction and others say that if enough people really believe that bad things are going to happen in 2012, then bad things will happen.  This is known as the Collective Manifestation theory and means basically that if an idea or prophecy is believed and is in the subconscious of everybody, then it can become a reality.
  • Another prediction concerns aliens.  Some think that bad things will happen and aliens will come and help us as they have helped us in the past.  Also, some believe that alien races will make contact with us and we will have absolute proof of alien civilizations.
  • Some folks think that December 21, 2012, will be just another day and nothing out of the ordinary will happen.

Whatever happens, it will be an interesting day.
