Was there a Sky Diver Crash at a Holyfield Boxing Fight?

Details of how a sky diver did crash at a Holyfield boxing fight in 1993 are good to know for any sports trivia fan.

Yes, there absolutely was a crash at one of Evander Holyfield's boxing matches. The person was not skydiving though; he was paragliding.  To be precise, it happened on November 6, 1993, in the heavyweight title fight between Holyfield and Riddick Bowe at Caesar's Palace.

What were the Circumstances?

A man named James Jarrett Miller was responsible for this crash. He was a paraglider and parachutist, who was well known for his appearances at sporting events. He was circling Caesar's Palace during that fight, and during the second minute of the seventh round, Miller fell when the lines of his paraglider got trapped in the overhead lights.

Quite a scene ensued when Miller descended. He was still stuck on the lights, and was holding on to the top rope of the ring, when the crowds ripped him down. Fights broke out, fans ripped up his paraglider for souvenirs, and Miller himself was knocked unconscious.

After being treated at a nearby hospital, he was charged with dangerous flying and released on a $200 bail from the Clark County Detention Center. Fox Sports Net ranked the incident as the number one "Most Outrageous Sports Moments."

What Happened to James Jarrett Miller?

Miller participated in a few more stunts in the last nine years of his life. Unfortunately, on March 9, 2003, six months after he vanished, his body was found on the Resurrection Pass Trail in Chugach National Forest. He had hanged himself. He had been suffering from heart disease and had very expensive medical bills, which have been suggested as part of the reason why he took his own life. He was only 40 years old when he passed.
