Types of Zodiac Signs

The zodiac was invented by the ancient Babylonians. There are twelve constellations that are on the sun's ecliptic, or path, through the night sky; so, they divided the ecliptic into segments and used them to measure celestial time. Most constellations were named after animals, so the Greeks chose the term "zodiakos kyklos" which means "animal circle."

• The moon sign is the constellation that the moon was in at the time of your birth.  It represents your emotions.
• The rising sign, or ascendant sign, is the constellation of the Zodiac which was rising in the east at the moment of your birth.  To determine your rising sign, you need the exact time of your birth, the date, and the location. Your rising sign indicates the traits you show to people, the way you act, or the “mask” you wear.
